Breakfast today was Ann’s Warrior Oats from Be a Plant Based Woman Warrior, p. 59. This breakfast was a hard pass for me. I would rate it a 1 out of 5 and wouldn't eat it again. It just didn't have a good flavor. Part of the issue was that it contained spinach, and that just seems wrong to me in a breakfast dish. It's supposedly savory, and maybe I don't like savory for breakfast. I certainly didn't like this.
For dinner tonight, we had Loaded Vegetable Soup with Farro and Beans from Be a Plant Based Woman Warrior, p. 137, with Jane’s Tall Flax Biscuits from Be a Plant Based Woman Warrior, p.207. The biscuits really saved this dish. The soup was OK on its own, but it would have been hard to eat without the biscuits. I would probably rate the soup a 3 out of 5 without the biscuits and a 4 out of 5 with the biscuits. The biscuits were bland, but good at mopping up the soup, and had a hint of savory to them that I missed until I tried to put some jam on them, which made them taste horrible, maybe because they had no sugar in them. The biscuits I would rate a 4 out of 5, just because they are healthy, and you can eat them with a soup that would be hard to eat otherwise.
