Eat to Live, June 24, 2017
I've lost 19.2 lbs since starting Eat to Live! I weighed 245.5 this morning. I lost 2 lbs since last week and this was after going out to eat for lunch one day (I had a burger and a salad) and having margaritas one afternoon with friends. I was pleasantly surprised that I had lost this much taking those things into account. If I can lose two or more pounds a week, I feel like I'm making real progress. We also didn't eat as much salad as I think we should have, so that is another factor. I'm getting close to a weight I haven't seen in 5 years or more. When I get down below 245, that will be significant. When I get below 240, that will be a milestone!
My fat mass was 93.7 lb. Last week it was 98 lb. That is a significant drop. My BMI was 34 this week. Last week it was 34.
The next couple of weeks on the diet are going to be more complicated. First, I'm going to have to have my weigh in moved up to Friday because we are going to be going on vacation for several days starting Friday. I think it is important that I use the same scale (my Withings scale), so I'll weigh myself on Friday, a day early. Second, it is going to be hard to stay on the diet the whole time we will be gone. The first few days shouldn't be too hard. We are visiting friends who eat pretty healthily those days. The next few days will be harder. We aren't returning until Wednesday night and the last three days will make it difficult to stay on the diet. I expect that my weight the following Saturday, on July 8th will be higher somewhat. We'll see.
This was our breakfast today. Mixed fruit with Five Seed Breakfast Bars. A better picture of the bars is below. They were OK but had too much lime in them. Lime was used as a binder. I think I would pick something not so sour next time. I'm not sure what would work. Maybe almond butter or cooked rolled oats? Otherwise, they were fine. With a bit of work, I think we could make these into something good.
This was our dinner tonight. It's called Orange Ginger Asian Salad with Chicken. The above picture was of the salad without chicken or dressing. The below picture is of everything in my bowl. I didn't care for the dressing much when I tasted it, but it was good on the salad. I liked the salad quite a bit! It had a lot of flavors and was unique compared to much of what we've been eating on this diet. It is definitely something I could eat every couple of weeks.
