Eat to Live, Week 3, Day 1
Eat to Live, Week 3, Day 1
Well, we have made it through two weeks. I decided to remove the Six Week Plan from the title because as we have been eating on this plan, I discovered that we haven't been following the strict plan most of the time. We've been picking up a few recipes that were on it, but most were from their regular meal plan.
One of the things I find frustrating about Eat to Live is that although they provide some very sound evidence for their way of eating, they do not really tell you basic information like how much protein you need, or how much good fat, etc., each day and how to set up your menu to do this properly. They just throw a bunch of recipes at you and expect you to know this. That is really stupid of them. I'm struggling with trying to figure out which recipes to put together to make our meals complete. Basic information on this, that goes along with these plans would help a lot.
I've been weighing myself once a week, each Saturday morning. Today's my weight was 255.5 lbs. That means I've lost 1.6 lbs in the past week, not as much as I would have liked. I'm not exactly sure why. There are at least a few factors that could be causing this. First, we haven't been following the more aggressive weight loss plan. I've tended to eat more fruit and nut butter in the past week too. This diet is radically different from how I used to eat, so it is possible that my body has gone into a mode where it conserves as much as possible, which means my weight loss will not be as great. Because my body fat percent went up last time I weighed myself, I decided to eat more protein this week. We had more soups and beans this past week. This might have been a factor as well. Next week I'm going to try to stick closer to the aggressive weight loss plan and see how difficult this is for me and how much more weight I lose.
The good news is my body fat percentage has dropped. My fat mass was 45% last week. This week it was 41.9%, a drop of 3.1%. My lean mass was 55% last week. This week it was 58.1%.
This is what we had for lunch today. It's a mixed green salad topped with beans and walnuts. It was pretty bland. The dressing to the right is called Nutritarian Ranch Dressing. It was awful. It didn't taste anything like ranch dressing. The whole thing was very bland. I wouldn't have it again.
Megan picked up these chips to have with our salads at the health food store. They were very good! The ingredients are below.
Our dinner tonight was Sweet Potatoes Topped with Black Beans, Kale, and Steamed Brocolli. I didn't care for the Kale. The rest was OK. It had flavor but was kind of weird. I have heartburn and it isn't sitting so well. I doubt I'd have it again. So far the meals on the aggressive plan aren't to my liking. Today was a bust.
