Eat to Live, 6 Week Plan, Week 2, Day 4

A lot to get to today.  Today was the first day since starting this that I had meat.  That's 10 days without meat.  I was at negotiations today and, as usual, we went out to lunch.  I had to find something on the menu that was somewhat healthy, not easy to do.  I finally settled on a Cobb salad.  I had them hold the cheese and put the tortilla strips on the side (I didn't eat much of them).  They also put the dressing on the side and I used it sparingly because it was ranch dressing.  I did eat the shredded chicken that came on the salad.

As we've been eating more veggies and fruit, I've been on a mission to find tools to make it easier to prepare them.  I've come across a few things that looked interesting and decided to order a few things.  As they come in, I'll post them here and let you know what Megan and I think of them.

This first thing that came in was the Chef'n StemGem Strawberry Huller.  Here's a video to show you how it works:

Here's a picture of the end results:

Both Megan and I liked this.  I used to use a small knife to hull berries but this is much faster and more accurate.  It leaves a lot more of the berry intact.  Megan also liked to use it on tomatoes to remove the stems.

Cost:  About $6.  This is a link to it at Amazon.

Another new thing came in today to help us with salad preparation.  It's called the OXO Good Grips Salad Chopper and Bowl.

Here is a video of how it works:

Megan wasn't as impressed by this.  She said it kind of mashed some of the more delicate green leafy veggies.  Maybe it will get better with practice.  It was faster and easier.

Cost:  $25.  This is a link to it at Amazon.

And here is our salad we're having for dinner tonight in the bowl:

The salad is called Mixed Green Salad with Avocado Dressing.  The dressing was pretty good but had a bit too much vinegar.
